FAQ DRIVING COURSES AND IN-CAR LESSONS

Most frequently asked questions and the answers regarding driving, BDE course, G2, G driving lessons and driver education packages.

Q: I do not have my G1 yet what are my options?

You must need G1 for in car lessons but for online course you do not need G1 but there is no point to start the course without G1 as you have to wait at least 8 months to do the road test so what majority of students do they registered themselves in the course and finished online lessons then they finished in car lesson.

Q: Do I have a choice to finish online and in car lessons at the same time?

No you must complete the online course first and then you can complete in car lessons.

Q: What is the procedure to book road test appointment?

There are few options to book the road test (1) you can visit the drive test center office, (2) You can book online by visiting www.drivetest.ca website (3) you can call at 1-888-570-6110 (4) Your instructor and our office can also book your road test.

Q: Can I start the course without my G1 Licence?

Yes, you can start only online portion of the course, as you must need your G1 to start in car driving lessons.

Q: How much time has allowed to finishing the course?

Under the Ministry of Transportation guidelines you have one year to complete the whole course which includes online course, home link and in car lessons.

Q: Are in car 10 hours lessons enough?

If you need more than 10 hours, there are couple of ways to do it (1) Pick the package that has more than 10 hours, you can buy that package at the time of registration. (2) You can add more hours later on.

Q: After completing the course when I can do my road test?

Under the MTO guidelines if you compete BDE from approved driving school like Barrie’s Best Drivers you can take road test after 8 months from your G1 licence issued date. If you do not complete the course, you have to wait for 1 year to do the road test.

Q: Can I drive to road test center alone because I have finished the driving course?

No you must need someone with you sitting at front seat has four or more than four years older full G license.

Q: What type of proof I need to provide to insurance company for my insurance discount how and where I can get it?

The whole procedure works in following steps:
(1) Barrie’s Best Drivers will update MTO about the completion of your course (2) MTO will issue a document called Driver Licence History (3) you need apply for it by paying $12 (4) Ministry will issue it in 2 weeks time.

Q: Where and how I can get my certificate (proof of completion of the course)?

After completing your online and in car lessons Barrie Best Drivers going to update your information to Ministry that you have completed the course then you apply for “Driver’s License History Report” to Service Ontario and  this document is your certificate that you can present to the Insurance companies.

Q: When and how can I start in car lessons from driving instructor?

  1. First you pass the written and eye test you will receive G1 license
  2. Then you have to complete online course first.
  3. Then you can start in car lessons.

Q: When can I do the road test?

If you finished the driving course from any ministry approved driving school like Barrie Best Driving School you wait 8 months for road test. If you do not take driving course from any ministry approved driving school then 1-year waiting time for road test.

Q: How much time required to finished online course?

You need to finish 20 hours online course and 10 hours home link assignment the maximum you could do is 5 hours per day.

Q: When I can start my driving lessons?

You can start in car lessons  after completing the online course first.

Q: Is there an installment plan?

Definitely, you can pay half at the time of registration and the other half on your first in-vehicle lesson starts.

Q: Would I be able to have the choice of using my or my parent's vehicle for in car lessons?

No, it is a lot more secure to use the instructor’s vehicle, as the instructor’s vehicles are equipped with a double brake.

Q: Would I be able to begin the driving course before I become 16 ?

Sure, you can start the online course, for car lessons you must require G1 which you going to get when you become 16.

Q: Is there any age limit of student for in car lessons and BDE course?

There is no age limit of student for in car lessons neither for BDE course.

Q: How would I pay for the courses is it possible I can pay in parts?

Certainly, you can pay half at the time of registration and pay half when you start in vehicle lessons. We accept E mail transfers and you can also pay by using your debit or credit car, or you can pay cash.

Q: Would I be able to have somebody with me during my in vehicle lesson other than instructor?

No the in car lessons are one on one basis which brings best results.

Q: I never been on driving seat that is why I am very much confused and nervous, how I am going to drive ?

Generally, many students feel that way our in vehicle instructors are well aware of it and will teach you safely. It would be really good and more helpful if you discuss it with your in car instructor.

Q: Who brings me to my lessons and road test?

Anyone who has 4 years or older G License and sitting at front seat.

Q: I do not see my city name in the list where Barrie's best drivers providing in car lessons, would I be still able to get in car lessons in the city I live. ?

To get the great results we following the best practice to give in car lessons in the city where you have to take road test, therefore to save learning time it would be much better if you could come to Barrie for in car lessons.

Q: Do i have to finish my online lessons before starting my in-car training?

Yes you must complete the online course first and then you can complete in car lessons.

Q: Are the 10 hours included in my in car course enough?

Whether the 10 hours are adequate depends upon the learning abilities of every driver differently.
If you feel that you would need extra time, we offer extra individual driving lessons. Your instructor can assist you with advising you if you need more hours training or not. Kindly do not hesitate to discuss it with your in car instructor.

Q: Do your instructors just instruct in English or different languages also?

Our instructors instruct in English, a few teachers know different languages.

Q: Can I take lessons for just parking?

Yes, you can. You can buy lessons only for parking practice.

Q: Can I use instructor's car for road test and do I have to pay extra for this service?

Yes, you can use the instructor’s car for road test. It work in two ways (1) buy the package that includes the instructor’s car (2) make an extra payment for using the car.

Q: What is the ministry fees for road test?

To get your G1, which remains valid for five years, it will cost $158.25. This includes the written knowledge test to get the license and the G2 road test.

Once you have your G2 license, you have to pay a $90 licensing fee, and the license will be valid for five years. Kindly check with drive test office as they may have changed it.

Q: What is the ministry fees if I fail the road test?

If you fail the road test, there will be an added fee of $52.50 for an additional test. Kindly check with drive test office as they may have changed it.

You have three options:

Q: If I complete the BDE course how can I apply for car insurance discount, how much discount i could get and how it works in details ?

First of all you need a proof that you have finished the driving course which you receive from the ministry by applying it, the MTO approved school will update the ministry that you have completed the BDE course, you apply to your car insurance company by your self, than the discount is depends on few factors (1) Your insurance company (2) Your driving record (3) Your age (4) Type of car you buy (5) Model and year of the car (6) City you live (7) Features and services of your insurance.

Q: How many and what type of driving courses Barrie’s Best Drivers offers for driver training?

A: We offer Beginner Driving Education (BDE) which has three packages available (1) Standard (2) Plus (3) Premium, we also offer individual in car lessons,  in future we may add few more courses for G license holders.

Q: Are there any payment plans Available?

Yes, you may pay 50% of course fee at the time of registration and the rest of 50% you can pay when you start the in car lessons.
